【Yokowo Connectors – Corrosion Resistance Ni-Free Connectors】

We have developed a Corrosion Resistance Ni-Free Connectors.
We improved  「Corrosion Resistance」, 「Avoid Allergic Reactions」 and 「Harsh Environment」 than our standard connectors. 

【Development of Corrosion Resistance Ni-Free Connectors】

A customer was developing a mobile device, which would be used in harsh environments.
The critical requirement is that it needed corrosion resistant features to withstand outdoor activities, functions in a frozen warehouse, and so on.

The device was designed to charge on a cradle, and there was a high risk for electrolytic corrosion as the contacts are often exposed to moisture.

The development of anti-corrosion began as an answer to the customer’s request.


【Development point of Corrosion Resistance Ni-Free Connectors】

After a series of experiments and evaluations, it became clear that improvements on plating were the key.

Since then, various improvements have been made to the plating options that we can offer today.

- Less allergic (Ni-free) plating.
- Plating for better operational durability.
- Plating that has a higher resistance against corrosion.


【Advantages in Corrosion Resistance Ni-Free Connector​​​​​  】

<Point 1>Improve Corrosion Resistance

We adopted special plating for its corrosion resistance feature.

<Test Chemical>
 - Detergent
 - Bleach
 - Ammonia
 - Artificial sweat
 - Salt Spray

<Point 2>Nickel Free

Connectors that have a higher chance of making direct contact with skin.
We developed a “Nickel free plating” in order to avoid allergic reactions for those who are sensitive to nickel.

<Point 3>Improve Abrasion Resistance

Special plating hardness is higher than Au plating. 
Abrasion resistance with the plating is better than products with Au plating. 

<Point 4>Not Just Available for SPRING CONNECTOR

Other than the SPRING CONNECTOR, We can propose the “Corrosion Resistant Type" 
to other types of Yokowo connectors.

【Application Examples】

Application Example 1 - Charging cradle for mobile devices

High durability and a longer product life are preferred for mobile devices.
Not only Ni-Free, but also adding other special features such as high-speed data and low spring force. 

Yokowo connectors can be used in many different scenarios.


Application Example 2 - Charging interfaces of wearable devices

When products/devices are directly touched or worn by people, nickel-free corrosion resistant plating eliminates the risk for an allergic reactions for those that have a Nickel allergy and provides great corrosion resistance.
Water-sealing can also be added as a custom design option.
