FAQ

SPRING CONNECTOR™ (Pogo Pin)
Basic Specifications

What is the supported current value?
Is there any problem if the current value is exceeded?

The nominal current of SPRING CONNECTOR™ from the standard line-up is 2A.
Please use the product within the allowable current value. If you wish to use the product with a current that exceeds the allowable current, please contact us in advance.

The rated specification is 12V, but can it be used at 12V or higher?

Please use the product within the allowable voltage value.
Please consult us in advance if you intend to use it at a voltage exceeding the allowable voltage.

What is the insulation resistance of multi-pole SPRING CONNECTOR™?

The standard value is 100M Ω or more, measured after 500V DC is applied between nonconductive terminals for 1 minute.

What is the withstand voltage of multi-pole SPRING CONNECTOR™?

Leakage current of 3mA or less is standard after applying and holding 500V DC between non-conductive terminals for 1 minute.

What is the durability guarantee for SPRING CONNECTOR™?

As a standard, the connectors are subjected to 20,000 mating cycles used under our recommended conditions. The judgment is based on contact resistance and spring pressure. (The cycle count varies depending on the product.)

What is the pin strength of SPRING CONNECTOR™?

As a standard, SPRING CONNECTOR™ are designed to withstand a load of 9.8 N applied to the pin (movable part) from any direction. However, it varies depending on the diameter of the product, so please check the specifications of the applicable model for details.

What is the operating temperature range?

Based on the operating environment of the product in which the connector is mounted and the JIS60068 (IEC) standard, the standard temperature range is set at -40 to 85° C. If the temperature is outside the recommended range please contact us.

What materials are used for SPRING CONNECTOR™?

As a standard, we use brass for pins and tubes, and SUS or SWP for springs.
Pb-free brass is also available.

What is the standard plating process?

Au plating is the standard plating process for our products, as it has low conductor resistance and is superior in resistance deterioration due to oxide film. The thickness of the plating is set for pins (contact parts) in consideration of their performance as external contacts, contact resistance, and corrosion. The plating on the tubes is set at a thickness
that satisfies the basic performance requirements of solder wettability and specifications.
For details of plating specifications, please refer to the product drawing. Please contact us for any special plating options.

Is it possible to use plating other than Au (Ni substrate)?

We can also handle other materials such as PdNi and Ag plating in addition to Au.
We can also propose Ni-free plating specifications.

Is it possible to perform tests that are not included in the specifications?

Yes, we can consider tests that are not included in the specifications.
Please contact us with the details of the test you require.

Can the product be used for antenna connection?

We have a positive track record with cellular, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS antennas.
Please contact us to check for your specific application.
